Coordinator, Adult and Academic Programs - Museum of Modern Art

Reports to: Assistant Director, Learning Programs and Partnerships.


  • Responsible for administrative duties and coordinating production for the Platform, an interactive learning space aimed at a general museum audience.

  • Coordinates and tracks schedules for facilitators working in the space.

  • Acts as a liaison between facilitators, MoMA volunteers and MoMA staff when needed, including sending reminders about schedules and helping with training, circulation of feedback and evaluation of the programs.

  • Collects vendor paperwork from guest artists/speakers and issues honorarium and travel expense payments via PeopleSoft accounting system.

  • Acts as contact for artists/speakers regarding payment inquiries.

  • Manages and organizes supplies and other on-site needs for the space and facilitators. Provides onsite support during programs in the space as needed.

  • Participates in program planning meetings with the Platform team.

  • Works closely with the Associate Educator for Studio and Artist Programs to handle daily Platform needs as they arise and to manage adjustments to the program as needed.


  • Bachelor of arts, in art history, art/museum education, or other related fields preferred.

  • Prior experience in museum education, teaching and/or working with a range of audiences in an educational environment preferred. Comfort and interest in communicating with the public.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills required.

  • Must be personable, flexible, and skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Solid organizational and project management skills. Must be detail-oriented, with ability to prioritize and manage time accordingly.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.

  • Must be skilled at using Excel to create and manage documents.

  • Knowledge and appreciation of modern and contemporary art and artists preferred.

  • Ability to speak a second language helpful.

  • Must be available to work Tuesdays to Saturdays during regular business hours and occasional Sundays and evenings as needed.
