Board Nominations: Tuesday, May 1 - Tuesday, May 22 (2018)
We are appointing Board of Trustees to support our growing community and institutional members. Applicants from cultural entities or working independently at all career levels, from vast academic and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We are looking for dynamic nominees for the 2018-2019 board. Social Media Coordinator
Museum Hue Board members are expected to make the following commitments:
Monthly Meetings: held once a month (September – May) from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in New York City. The weekday and location is determined by the group consensus. Board Trustees must attend at least five of the nine meetings annually.
Monthly Programs: Each Board Trustee-at-Large plan at least two programs over the course of the year. It could be a combination of any of our offerings: Hueseum Tours, Hueniversity Workshops, Huesday Digital Dialogues, and Huenity Mixers).
One Blog Post: Board members must write a blog and/or invite a guest contributor to do so.
Positions Available for the 2018-2019 Term:
PRESIDENT (1 position): The President is responsible for the overall administration of Museum Hue, presides over meetings of the Board, as well as provides leadership in the formulation and implementation of strategic planning and policies. The President shall have such other powers and duties as the Board may designate.
VICE PRESIDENT (1 position): The Vice President, at the request of the President or in their absence or during their disability, the Vice President shall perform the duties and exercise the functions of the President.
SECRETARY (1 position): The Secretary is responsible for keeping minutes of all meetings of the Board, develop and share materials and resources, and conduct themselves in accordance with the organization’s guidelines.
TREASURER (1 position): The Treasurer is primarily responsible for supervision of Museum Hue’s financial records, filing of the organization’s taxes, and close coordination with other Board Officers and Trustees. We are especially interested in someone with experience planning and maintaining budgets.
TRUSTEE-AT-LARGE (8 positions): Trustees-at-Large mainly develop and implement a minimum of two monthly programs. Candidates should be accessible by email and prepared to answer questions from Board members on a regular basis. Familiarity with Google Sheets, Forms, and Docs is also recommended. The term for Trustees-at-Large is one year.
WEBSITE COORDINATOR (1 position): The website coordinator is in charge of publishing content, uploading job opportunities and maintaining continuity of themes. They must also have strong communication skills and an up-to-date awareness of design techniques. Attention to detail, creativity and knowledge of information technology.
MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR (1 position): The Membership Coordinator foster strong relationships with existing members and recruit new members. They will assist in the development of Museum Hue's marketing campaigns/collateral pieces including print ads, brochures, etc for products and services. Oversee brand management both internally and externally.
SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR (1 position): The Social Media Coordinator will maintain our online presence, develop original content (text, images, and videos), as well as engage followers in dialogue on Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
About the Board: Museum Hue’s governing body is the Board of Trustees, consisting of Museum Hue Members all serving in voluntary roles. The Board consists of four Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer); five appointed Trustees (Archivist, Social Media Coordinator, Membership Coordinator, Website Coordinator, and Trustee for Strategic Planning and Fundraising); and no fewer than eight Trustees-at-Large are elected. No more than two Trustees should have the same institutional affiliation.
The purposes of the Board are:
to bolster the visibility and viability of creatives of color;
to share and create opportunities for Huers in and outside the arts field;
to build our practice & pedagogy to dismantle racial inequity through the arts;
to partner and collaborate with organizations and companies across industries;
to bridge an interdisciplinary dialogue to introduce new ways of seeing and thinking;
to develop professional development opportunities that help Huers “level up;”
to exchange resources and disseminate thought-leadership, and other relevant information;
to pursue financial support, charitable donations, cultural and educational opportunities.
