Development Associate - New York Botanical Garden

The Development Associate provides direct administrative support to the Individual Giving fundraising team as it cultivates and stewards The New York Botanical Garden’s Individual donors and prospects. These efforts include, but are not limited to, tracking gifts and budgets; editing and producing correspondence, reports and letters; and preparing for/arranging meetings, tours and mailings. The position is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic self-starter with administrative experience. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide general administrative support to all areas of the Individual Giving office as required including, but not limited to, tracking department budget, ordering supplies, overseeing inventory and assisting the gift recording process

Ensure that short- and long-term department goals are achieved

Maintain records in database, and update tracking documents and donor paper files

Draft donor correspondence, as needed

Interact with Trustees, donors, prospects, and volunteers as required

Prepare materials for and arrange meetings, tours, and mailings, as needed

Manage scheduling for departmental including, but not limited to, tours, committee meetings, transportation, etc.

Submit and process purchase orders/invoices for departmental purchases

Oversee operational needs of department 

Accept special assignments, as required


Bachelor’s degree required

Previous development experience in an academic or cultural institution preferred

Must be self-motivated, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Must be able to interact with all levels of staff, volunteers, donors, and the public

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel 

Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred
