Graphic Designer - Oregon Museum of Science and Industry
This position is responsible for designing and directing art for OMSI's publications and advertising, establishing and maintaining OMSI's identity and the development of a cohesive, consistent graphics package for the museum. Responsibilities also include the ongoing evaluation of OMSI's publications, providing direction for design, content, illustration, photography, printing and cost saving methods whenever possible. This is a temporary position scheduled February 25, 2019 through August 2, 2019.
Participate in programs/initiatives to enhance corporate culture, such as:
Working effectively with and supporting volunteers throughout the organization
Supporting OMSI's Total Guest Experience (TGE)/Customer Service mission & objectives in daily job performance, including diversity initiatives
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, production and vendor estimates for OMSI materials, including brochures, web, email, large-scale signage, catalogs, integrated campaigns, promotional material for OMSI special events and business units including, Science Store, Planetarium, Theater, the USS Blueback Submarine, science classes, Outreach, Teacher Ed, Volunteers and others.
Aid in the creative concepts and identity support for new programming, social media campaigns, and exhibitions.
Facilitate client relationships, asset collection, and final delivery.
Responsible for monitoring publication budgets and production timelines.
Assists in proofreading for grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Attends meetings with OMSI staff and vendors to aid in the design and production of publications.
This position is exempt, paid salaried
This position is special project, scheduled for 40 hours/week.
Position is scheduled to work onsite Monday Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Vision requirements include color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left or right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth and perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eyes to bring an object into sharp focus).
Noise level is moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers).
Assume other duties as assigned by the Lead Designer and/or the Director of Brand Marketing.

Demonstrated experience in design and identity, including but not limited to brand development, multi-channel campaigns, print execution (posters, magazines, newsletters, signs, flyers, catalogs, ads, and brochures), and digital advertising and communications.
Comprehensive knowledge of printing and pre-press production.
Experience in the organization of catalog and large volume of digital files.
Understanding of confidentiality and protocol.
Education & Work Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Minimum 1 year of coordination and project management skills.
Working knowledge of graphics for web design and advertising.
Minimum 3 years of graphic design, branding, and advertising experience.
Bilingual - Spanish/English.
Experience working with volunteers.
