The Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, the Smithsonian ‘s museums of Asian Art, are looking for a contractor to support the work of the Education unit in three specific areas: designing and coordinating program elements for professional development programs for teachers; developing online curriculum material for K-12 students based on objects in the F|S collection of Chinese Art; and providing targeted assistance for Visitor Experience on a daily basis and specifically for the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event. 75% of the work will take place at the Freer|Sackler. The remaining research portion of web-based lesson plans may be conducted off-site.
This is a full-time contract. Work will begin as soon as possible and will continue through November 30, 2019. Pending funding and satisfactory performance, there is the possibility of a one year extension with a similar range of duties.
A minimum of two to three years of experience in relevant aspects of museum education or online curriculum development and familiarity with Chinese art history is highly desirable.
