Program Sales Engagement Coordinator - Oregon Museum of Science and Industry

The Program Sales Engagement Coordinator is responsible for generating leads, increasing program participation, and executing sales to increase OMSI's informal educational impact across the Pacific Northwest and to provide a base for long term revenue growth for the organization. Sales will be executed with direct sales activities including prospecting, cold calling, and in-person, all with a focus on closing sales and maintaining records in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. The Program Sales Engagement Coordinator must create an expansive network to help facilitate sales and should have a deep understanding of how to build and maintain new relationships. Program Sales team members have aggressive team revenue goals which will be incentivized; the primary measure of success in this position will be achieving those revenue goals.


Participate in programs/initiatives to enhance corporate culture, including:

  • Supporting OMSI's Total Guest Experience (TGE)/Customer Service mission & objectives in daily job performance, establishing a world-class guest service environment that is creative, harmonious, positive, respectful, efficient, knowledgeable and professional toward both internal and external customers.

  • Assist OMSI's strategic values of accessibility and equity. Listening to audiences we are trying to reach. Proactively increasing diversity of clients and guests, serving underserved audiences through sustainable programs and proactively work to eliminate barriers.

  • Collaborating with members of the Retail, Marketing, and Education Programs divisions to reach OMSI's goals.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

"Performing the following will involve driving to various locations outside OMSI's corporate headquarters:"

  • Hold an expert level of understanding of OMSIs fundamental business drivers, products and programs. Recognize the needs of OMSI's customers as well as the strengths and weaknesses of our competitors.

  • Generate sales leads, prioritizing for current and lasting revenue generation, follow up with inquiries and close sales. Meet and exceed revenue and participation goals.

  • Work with Program Sales Manager to assist in configuration and maintain a CRM to manage new and recurring clients.

  • Develop sales proposals and presentations for public audiences, schools, district administrators, and community groups regarding OMSI programs and services.

  • Navigate customer organizations, identifying decision-makers and uncovering their unmet needs, and concisely demonstrating the value of what OMSI has to offer

  • Independently visit off-site locations to present proposals and presentations to school and community clients, occasionally including overnight night stays.

  • Build relationships and networks with all available partners to increase OMSI's Strategic Priorities including: Statewide outreach and Diversity Equity Accessibility Inclusion (DEAI) objectives to continuously generate new sales opportunities and increase program participation.

  • Work cross-departmentally to ensure that sales and service deliverables are met in an exemplary manner, and efforts are coordinated to achieve the best results.

  • Close sales by building rapport with potential accounts; explaining product and service capabilities; overcoming objections; and preparing contracts.

  • Work closely with the Program Sales Coordinator by handing off accounts once established.

  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and appearance as a representative of OMSI to the public.

  • Provide feedback on marketing materials for educator-facing programs.

  • This position is exempt, paid salaried

  • This position is regular full-time, scheduled for 40 hours/week.


Working Conditions:

  • Work mostly weekdays, but some evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

  • Vision Requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left or right while eyes are fixed on a given point), Depth and perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships), Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eyes to bring an object into sharp focus).

  • Noise level is moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).




  • Field tested knowledge of effective sales and marketing techniques.

  • Ability to prospect, sell and close, and effectively develop and expand client base.

  • Able to work with people from diverse backgrounds in the corporate and educational sector.

  • High energy and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume sales environment.

  • Highly articulate with superior interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems.


Education & Work Experience: 


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in sales, marketing or related field.



  • Bilingual - Spanish/English.

  • Experience working with volunteers.
